LOVE & WAR
THE STORY
Years in the future, a disease hits. It doesn't directly spread from person to person, but instead through food. It infects the crops, infests the animals that eat it. Millions of products are recalled as people die of this illness, stores and restaurants shut down, world trade is in shambles, political leaders get sick - it all falls apart far faster than ever expected. The greedy get greedier, and the rich hoard safety.
By the time a cure is found, a solution for the disease, the world has crumbled in too many ways to count. Food is no longer the biggest problem on the world's plate.
People find their own ways to survive. The remnants of cities build tight-knit communes, and what's left of the governments often help those populated areas first and foremost.
But in the rural areas, things are more patchy. Small towns become either places of refuge or raided no-man's-land after fights over resources. Wandering travelers move from shelter to shelter, and others stake their claim on the most isolated places possible.
But some people follow a more... unorthodox method for survival.
